Phnom penh: The secretariats of the Cambodia-Thailand Regional Border Committee (RBC) for Cambodia's 4th Military Region and Thailand's 2nd Army Area convened a productive meeting this morning at the O'Smach International Border Checkpoint in Oddar Meanchey province, focusing on deepening bilateral cooperation and peace-building initiatives.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Cambodian delegation was led by Brigadier General Nith Narong, Deputy Chief of Staff of the 4th Military Region and Head of the Cambodian RBC Secretariat. The Thai side was headed by Colonel Yuthasat Setthchai, Deputy Chief of Staff of the 2nd Military Region and Deputy Head of the Thai RBC Secretariat.
The officials addressed key agenda items falling within the RBC's mandate, with the objective of developing concrete and constructive actions. These preparations are designed to align with the framework set by the General Border Committee (GBC) of both nations, particularly concerning content agreed upon during the First Extraordinary RBC Meeting on August 27, 2025.
A significant outcome of the meeting was the agreement to enhance communication-both through regular in-person meetings and established formal channels-to further strengthen mutual trust between the two military regions.
This dialogue is a direct continuation of the progress made following a special meeting in Malaysia on July 28, 2025, which successfully resulted in a ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand.
During the session, both sides firmly reaffirmed their joint commitment to the full and effective implementation of the existing ceasefire. They pledged to continue efforts to de-escalate tensions along the border, seek practical cooperation to enhance peace and stability, and work toward a speedy return to normalcy in the region.
