Cambodia Welcomes Diplomatic Corps’ Appeal for Full Ceasefire Implementation

Oddar meanchey: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFAIC) has welcomed the appeal of the diplomatic corps in support of upholding the ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand, expressed during a diplomatic visit to Oddar Meanchey province.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, H.E. Chum Sounry, Secretary of State and Spokesperson for the MFAIC, noted that H.E. Ueno Atsushi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan, communicated Japan's firm support for an unconditional and prompt ceasefire. The Ambassador also expressed Japan's willingness to provide aid to those affected and emphasized the need for peaceful dialogue.

Ms. Bridgette Walker, Charg© d'Affaires, a.i. of the U.S. Embassy in Phnom Penh, highlighted the importance of the visit for understanding the situation. She mentioned that President Trump and Secretary Rubio are monitoring developments closely and have urged both governments to honor their ceasefire commitments.

Mr. Koen Everaert, First Secretary and Deputy Head of Cooperation of the Delegation of the European Union to Cambodia, reiterated the EU's encouragement for both sides to adhere to the ceasefire agreement and foster communication to restore trust and stability at the border.

Cambodia has consistently shown its dedication to the ceasefire agreement established on July 28, 2025, in Putrajaya, and the 13-point outcomes from the Extraordinary Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee Meeting on August 7, 2025, in Kuala Lumpur.

H.E. Pen Bona, Head of the Royal Government Spokesperson Unit, emphasized that peace is integral to Cambodia's national identity and affirmed the Royal Government's unwavering commitment to peace.
