Cambodian Acting Head of State Calls for Enhanced Military Cooperation with Brunei

Phnom penh: Acting Head of State Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has expressed satisfaction with the current state of Cambodia-Brunei relations, while encouraging deeper cooperation in the military sector to promote mutual understanding and regional stability, according to Senate Spokesperson H.E. Chea Thyrith.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the remarks were made during a courtesy call by H.E. Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi Bin Bol Hassan, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, at the Senate Palace this morning.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen warmly welcomed the Brunei military delegation and underlined the importance of strengthening defence cooperation.

For his part, H.E. Major General Haszaimi conveyed a personal message and fraternal greetings from His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei to Samdech Techo Hun Sen, and expressed appreciation for the warm hospitality extended to his delegation. He noted that his visit provided a valuable opportunity to further advance military cooperation and deepen the friendship between the two nations.

The Acting Head of State expressed gratitude to His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei for his kind message and reciprocated with his own greetings.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen also briefed the Brunei military delegation on the latest developments regarding the Cambodia-Thailand border situation. He emphasised the importance of ASEAN solidarity, noting that Brunei's role in monitoring and encouraging peaceful resolution through dialogue and patience is highly valued.

He further thanked Brunei for its active contributions within ASEAN, particularly its support in observation mechanisms related to the Cambodia-Thailand border issue.

Concluding the meeting, Samdech Techo Hun Sen voiced optimism that Cambodia-Brunei relations, especially in the field of defence and security, will continue to grow stronger in the years ahead.
