Cambodian Foreign Ministry Condemns Alleged Thai Aggression

Phnom penh: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia has issued a statement condemning what it describes as aggressive actions by Thailand along the border areas.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Cambodian Foreign Ministry's statement, released on July 24, details incidents involving Thai armed forces launching unprovoked attacks on Cambodian positions. The affected areas include Tamone Thom Temple, Ta Krabey Temple, and Mom Bei, located within the provinces of Preah Vihear and Oddar Meanchey. The ministry underscores that these acts are viewed as serious violations of international law, including principles outlined in the United Nations Charter and the ASEAN Charter.

The Royal Government of Cambodia has expressed its condemnation of what it terms as reckless actions by Thailand, which it believes jeopardize peace and stability along the shared border. The statement urges Thailand to cease hostilities, withdraw its forces, and avoid further provocations. Cambodia emphasizes its ongoing commitment to peace and dialogue but asserts its right to self-defense under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter to protect its sovereignty and people.
