Phnom penh: Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, has formally submitted a letter to the Norwegian Nobel Committee, nominating former U.S. President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the nomination letter, dated August 7, highlights Trump's efforts in advancing world peace. The Cambodian Premier expressed that this move is not only a gesture of personal appreciation but also reflects the gratitude of the Cambodian people for Trump's role in maintaining peace along the Cambodia-Thailand border.
Samdech Thipadei noted Trump's statesmanship and diplomatic efforts in resolving conflicts, specifically citing his involvement in brokering a ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand. This intervention was instrumental in averting a potential conflict, preserving lives, and restoring peace between the nations.
Furthermore, the Cambodian leader emphasized that Trump's achievements extend beyond this single instance, showcasing his commitment to peace in volatile regions worldwide. This aligns with Alfred Nobel's vision, honoring those who contribute to international fraternity and peace advancement.
