Phnom penh: Humanitarian aid donated by Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate and President of the Supreme Privy Council to His Majesty the King, and Samdech Kittiprittpundit Bun Rany Hun Sen, President of the Cambodian Red Cross, has been delivered to frontline military forces and displaced civilians in Preah Vihear province. The aid was delivered today by the Phnom Penh Municipal Administration.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the donation, which included 6,000 portable gas stoves and 12,000 gas canisters, was handed over on behalf of Phnom Penh Governor Khuong Sreng by Deputy Governor Imran Hassan. The aid was received by Senior Minister Kitti Sangahapundit Kun Kim, President of the National Committee for Disaster Management, and Preah Vihear Governor H.E. Kim Rithy.
Deputy Governor Imran Hassan expressed his gratitude to Samdech Hun Sen and Samdech Bun Rany Hun Sen for their timely support, which is intended to assist troops stationed along the border and civilians affected by recent armed conflict. He also conveyed words of encouragement to the soldiers, praising their sacrifices in defending the nation's sovereignty against Thai military aggression.
Senior Minister Kun Kim noted that the Cambodian Red Cross had tasked him with coordinating the distribution of aid to those in urgent need. He thanked both Samdech Hun Sen and Samdech Bun Rany Hun Sen for their unwavering humanitarian commitment and also thanked the philanthropists of Phnom Penh and Governor Khuong Sreng for their contributions.
During the handover, Senior Minister Kun Kim requested the Phnom Penh Municipal Administration to provide gas refilling equipment to assist frontline troops during the rainy season. He also appealed for additional funding from generous donors and the Phnom Penh governor to purchase fresh food like vegetables, fish, and meat for displaced people, noting that while supplies of instant noodles, canned fish, and fish sauce are adequate, access to fresh provisions is limited.
The aid package from Samdech Hun Sen and Samdech Bun Rany Hun Sen includes: 6,000 portable gas stoves; 12,000 gas canisters; and 50 cases of instant noodles; as well as bottled water.
