Cambodia’s “Egg in the Nest” Dessert Triumphs at Paris Culinary Competition

Paris: The "Egg in the Nest" dessert, crafted by Cambodian Chef Sao Sopheak, secured the first prize at the culinary competition held during the International Village of Gastronomy in Paris. This achievement was announced by H.E. Luy David, the Cambodian Ambassador to France, on his Facebook account.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the competition took place from September 11 to 14 along the Seine River, near the iconic Eiffel Tower, and featured culinary talents from 62 countries worldwide. Cambodia was honored as the Guest of Honour, allowing it to highlight its rich culinary heritage through a dedicated pavilion.

Chef Sao Sopheak, along with the Paul Dubrule Vocational School of Hospitality and Tourism, provided cooking demonstrations that offered visitors a genuine taste of Cambodian cuisine. Key highlights at Cambodia's pavilion included Kampot pepper, dried mango, palm sugar, traditional Khmer desserts, prahok, and krama, showcasing the diversity of flavors and ingredients native to Cambodia.
