Phnom penh: Techo International Airport has marked its first week of commercial operations with remarkable aviation traffic. Figures from the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation showed that from Sept. 9 to 15, 2025, the Techo International Airport received an average of 130 inbound and outbound flights (two-way) per day. It also recorded the remarkable average of 15,000 inbound and outbound passengers (two-way) per day.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, there are 28 airlines operating flights at the Techo International Airport, including 4 domestic airlines and 24 foreign airlines. On Sept. 9, 2025, the Techo International Airport inaugurated its first flight with the successful transfer of all major airlines from the old Phnom Penh International Airport (PNH). The airport's official inauguration ceremony is scheduled to be held on Oct. 20, 2025, under the chairmanship of Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia.
Constructed over a total area of 2,600 hectares and located some 20 kilometres from Phnom Penh, the new airport is designated as a 4F class airport capable of handling large aircraft such as the Airbus A380. It is designed to accommodate 13 million passengers annually in its first phase. This development is part of Cambodia's long-term strategy to enhance its position as a regional aviation hub and is expected to significantly boost tourism and trade.
