Cambodia’s GFT Industrial Potential Highlighted at World Textile Exhibition in Shanghai


Shanghai: The Textile, Apparel, Footwear and Travel Goods Association in Cambodia (TAFTAC), represented by Deputy Secretary General Mr. Kaing Monika, participated in the ASEAN Federation of Textile Industries (AFTEX) Roundtable Discussion at Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics 2025, held on September 2 in Shanghai, China. The session titled ‘Opportunities in ASEAN in a Changing Trade Environment’ gathered industry leaders to discuss how the ASEAN textile and apparel sectors can adapt to and thrive within evolving global trade dynamics. Each country representative also worked to promote investment opportunities in their respective countries.



According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Mr. Kaing Monika underscored Cambodia’s strong potential in the Garment, Footwear, and Travel Goods (GFT) industries during the session. He stated that TAFTAC is prepared to welcome partners interested in sourcing and investment opportunities within ASEAN’s changing trade landscape. He further emphasized Cambodia’s dedication to enhancing regional collaboration, promoting sustainable growth, and seizing new opportunities for the nation’s garment, footwear, and travel goods industries.

An official report from the General Department of Customs and Excise revealed that Cambodia exported GFT products worth US$7.38 billion in the first half of 2025, marking a 22 percent increase from the US$6.02 billion reported during the same period in 2024.
