Phnom Penh: The Forum on the Progress of Industry, Science, Technology, and Innovation in the Implementation of the Pentagonal Strategy - Phase 1 of the Royal Government of Cambodia convened at the National Assembly Palace, chaired by NA President Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary. The event aimed to enhance public awareness, foster policy dialogue, and advance the sectors of industry, science, technology, and innovation, along with small and medium enterprises, handicrafts, and potable water supply.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the forum was co-organized by the National Assembly, Senate, and the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology, and Innovation (MISTI). Samdech Khuon Sudary emphasized the significance of these sectors for Cambodia's economic and political competitiveness, highlighting their role in achieving the national vision of becoming an upper middle-income country by 2030 and a high-income country by 2050.
H.E. Ms. Nin Saphon, Chair of the National Assembly's Committee 9, underscored the NA's legislative, oversight, and representative roles, advocating for enhanced cooperation between legislative and executive branches to support the Royal Government's Pentagonal Strategy-Phase 1.
Minister Hem Vanndy of MISTI addressed the forum, discussing the ministry's accomplishments in 2024, the challenges faced, and seven strategic directions designed to boost Cambodia's industrialization and foster private sector growth. He stated the ministry's mission as acting as a guardian, catalyst, facilitator, and supporter of the private sector, with an approach of aiding rather than hindering or penalizing.
