Defence Ministry Denies Firing Into Thai Territory

Phnom penh: The Ministry of National Defence of the Kingdom of Cambodia has rejected the claim this afternoon by the official page of the Thai military and some Thai media outlets that 'Cambodian forces fired 3 to 5 small-caliber shots into Thai territory with the intent to provoke in the area along the border between the two countries.'

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, information received from the Cambodian Military Region 4 confirmed that the unit stationed in that area accidentally fired two shots at 1:20 PM. Afterwards, at 2:16 PM, the Communication Teams from both countries inquired and provided information to each other, and the matter has already been resolved, said H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Spokeswoman of the Ministry of National Defence in a statement made public this evening.

She took the opportunity to reaffirm Cambodia's commitment to cooperate with Thailand at all levels in order to promote peace, stability, cooperation, and development for the benefit of both countries.

'Cambodian forces reaffirm their full and unwavering commitment to the ceasefire agreement between the Cambodian and Thai militaries, which was reached in Putrajaya on July 28, 2025,' concluded the spokeswoman.
