Phnom penh: Cambodia has firmly stated that it has not violated and will not violate the sovereignty of any neighboring country, including the Lao People's Democratic Republic. This assertion comes amidst allegations from Thailand accusing Cambodia of launching projectiles into Laotian territory.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the statement was made by H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Under Secretary of State and Spokesperson of the Ministry of National Defence. The spokesperson categorically rejected and condemned what he described as false and malicious accusations by Thailand. He emphasized that these allegations are part of a disturbing pattern of deceit by the Thai military, aimed at justifying unprovoked aggression against Cambodia and manipulating international opinion.
The statement released this evening further highlighted that the allegations are baseless and dangerously inflammatory, especially since the Lao authorities have not concluded their investigation or made any claims. Cambodia is demanding that Thailand cease its disinformation campaign, which is seen as a tactic to deflect attention from Thailand's own violations of international law.
H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata reiterated Cambodia's commitment to respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all nations. He also affirmed Cambodia's readiness to cooperate fully with the Lao People's Army in a responsible, professional, and transparent investigation of the incident.
