Doctor fined for giving propofol to actor Yoo Ah-in without leaving medical record

A Seoul court on Thursday ordered a doctor to pay 40 million won (US$29,900) in fines for administering propofol to actor Yoo Ah-in without leaving a medical record. The Seoul Central District Court handed down the ruling, saying the doctor had not left a detailed note or medical record when giving a high dose of propofol and had written the prescription without a medical checkup. In January, the prosecution indicted the doctor, along with five other doctors, on charges of overprescribing psychotropic medications, including sleeping pills and propofol, to actor Yoo Ah-in. Five other doctors were all sentenced to pay fines or given a suspended sentence, and they have appealed the decision to a higher court. Meanwhile, Yoo is awaiting the sentencing of the first trial next month after he was indicted on charges of habitually abusing illegal drugs on 181 occasions under the pretext of cosmetic procedures between 2020-2022.
