Phnom penh: H.E. Hem Vanndy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, welcomed a business delegation from Kampu Nuts Agro Product and China National Machinery Industry Corporation (SINOMACH) at the ministry on September 9 to explore avenues for strengthening Cambodia's cashew processing industry.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the delegation expressed an interest in investing in cashew processing facilities within Cambodia. They proposed introducing advanced machinery and collaborating with local enterprises to enhance production capabilities. The Kampu representative highlighted Cambodia's potential, mentioning that the country's large, high-quality cashew nuts could be processed domestically to meet the growing demand in China.
H.E. Hem Vanndy responded positively to the proposal, emphasizing the Royal Government's vision to elevate Cambodian cashews to global prominence. He underscored the government's focus on processing and value-chain development, aiming to position Cambodian cashews as leaders in the international market.
The minister encouraged the introduction of modern techniques and technology, maintaining a strong emphasis on safety and quality standards. He assured that the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation (MISTI) is prepared to offer laboratory services, promote national standards, and work alongside key stakeholders to boost productivity in the cashew processing sub-sector.
In addition, H.E. Hem Vanndy urged the company to engage in farmer training, value-chain integration, and productivity enhancement initiatives to further support the development of Cambodia's cashew sector.
