Kampong Thom: H.E. Hem Vanndy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology, and Innovation, visited two water treatment facilities in Baray and Staung districts of Kampong Thom province.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, in Baray, H.E. Minister visited the private water facility of Mr. Chheng Chantheoun. The minister encouraged the private water operator (PWO) to prioritize network expansion, promote connections, and develop a digital map of the network to detect leakage and avoid damage from other infrastructure projects.
H.E. Hem Vanndy then visited the construction site of the New Taing Krasaing Water Treatment Plant, a World Bank-funded project launched in July 2024. Scheduled for completion by the end of 2025, the plant will produce 4,400 cubic meters of clean water per day and connect to a 126.4-kilometer pipe network serving about 6,000 households.
The minister emphasized the importance of bringing clean water to every corner of Cambodia, particularly to villages just outside current service areas. He stated that access to clean water is crucial for public health, and it also plays a significant role in attracting investment, supporting local businesses, and driving regional trade.
