Meeting between Cambodian Health Minister and Hong Kong Commerce Secretary Highlights Bilateral Cooperation

Phnom Penh: H.E. Prof. Chheang Ra, Cambodia's Minister of Health, met with Mr. Algernon Yau, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development of Hong Kong, on Mar. 25, during a visit to the special administrative region. The discussion underscored the growing ties between Cambodia and Hong Kong, with a focus on potential collaboration in various sectors, including healthcare.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, during the meeting, Mr. Yau briefed the Cambodian health delegation on key areas of cooperation between the two regions. He highlighted opportunities for partnership, particularly in hospital development, and praised Cambodia's rapid and robust progress in recent years. Mr. Yau also referenced the 'Belt and Road Initiative,' a global policy aimed at boosting economic development and public welfare, as a framework for enhancing bilateral ties.

In response, H.E. Prof. Chheang Ra commended Hong Kong's remarkable advancements and emphasised the importance of global partnerships in driving economic growth and knowledge-sharing in healthcare. He expressed Cambodia's commitment to supporting collaborative projects that benefit both nations' populations, foster ongoing cooperation, and contribute to regional and global well-being.
