Siem reap: Mr. Chorn Vanthou, Deputy Director, Department of Planning, Statistics, Cooperation and ASEAN Affairs, Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology, and Innovation (MISTI), addressed participants on how media can drive the transition of MSMEs toward greener and more sustainable practices, at the 4th session of the 20th Asia Media Summit hosted at Sokha Siem Reap Hotel in Siem Reap province this morning.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the session on 'Media and Climate Action: The Road to Sustainability,' highlighted the important role of journalism in raising awareness and supporting climate-related policies. Mr. Chorn Vanthou emphasized that the media plays a vital role in raising awareness and supporting the shift toward sustainable Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), citing that the media can bridge communication between the government and the private sector, helping shape policies that favor green innovation.
Mr. Vanthou highlighted several key roles including encouraging dialogue around environmental regulations, supporting green research and development, attracting responsible investment through public storytelling, and fostering platforms for stakeholder collaboration. Other speakers from various sectors in the media, enterprises, and advanced technology underlined that accurate and responsible media coverage is key to driving environmental action across all sectors.
The discussions underscored the urgent need for collaboration between media, government, and private stakeholders to empower MSMEs, safeguard biodiversity, and ensure a sustainable future for all.
