Outgoing UNDP Representative Bids Farewell to Cambodian Minister of Women’s Affairs

Phnom penh: Dr. Ing Kantha Phavi, Minister of Women's Affairs of Cambodia, met with Ms. Alissar Chaker, the outgoing Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to Cambodia, to bid farewell and discuss the achievements of their partnership.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Minister Ing Kantha Phavi praised the enduring and productive relationship between the Ministry of Women's Affairs and UNDP, which has been thriving since 2002. She acknowledged the pivotal role UNDP has played as a key development partner in enhancing institutional expertise and promoting gender equality throughout Cambodia.

The meeting also covered significant areas of collaboration between UNDP and the Royal Government of Cambodia. Both parties highlighted their ongoing efforts in gender mainstreaming, advancing progress towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and reinforcing the resilience of women and girls against global challenges like climate change and the rise of artificial intelligence (AI).

In response, Ms. Chaker expressed her gratitude for the strong cooperation and partnership with the Ministry. She emphasized UNDP's extensive support, which not only focused on the Ministry's direct initiatives but also included broader sectoral programs aligned with Cambodia's national priorities.

Ms. Chaker is set to conclude her mission in Cambodia in the near future.
