Senate President Reaffirms Commitment to Constitutional Monarchy

Phnom penh: President of the Cambodian Senate, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, has reaffirmed Cambodia's commitment to preserving its constitutional monarchy. Speaking during a meeting with local council members in Preah Vihear province this morning, Samdech Techo Hun Sen stressed the importance of upholding the monarchy as enshrined in the Constitution.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Samdech Techo Hun Sen emphasized that the Constitution clearly states the King is the Head of State for life, highlighting Cambodia's duty to safeguard the monarchy. Since the restoration of the monarchy in 1993, Cambodia has maintained the stability of the royal institution despite facing challenges over the years.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen strongly urged that Cambodia must never abandon the monarchy, insisting on the preservation of the constitutional monarchy as a legacy of the late King-Father Preah Borom Ratanak Kaudh. He remarked on the importance of this stability, especially when other countries are experiencing internal turmoil due to regime change.

Cambodia has been a constitutional monarchy since 1993, with His Majesty the King serving as Head of State.
