Rainfall and Storms to Persist Across Cambodia This Week

Phnom penh: Medium to heavy rainfall, accompanied by thunder, lightning, and gusts, is expected to continue across much of Cambodia this week, from Sept. 16 to 22, according to the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology (MOWRAM).

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, for lowland areas, particularly the provinces of Kampong Thom, Banteay Meanchey, Battambang, Pursat, Kampong Chhnang, Kampong Cham, Thbong Khmum, Prey Veng, Svay Rieng, Takeo, Kandal, and Siem Reap, as well as Phnom Penh capital, rainfall is forecast to cover about 55 percent of the land area. Temperatures in these areas are expected to range between 24 and 35 degrees Celsius.

In highland areas, including Kampong Speu, Pailin, Oddar Meanchey, Preah Vihear, Kratie, Stung Treng, Rattanakiri, and Mondulkiri provinces, along with the Dangrek and Cardamom (Kravanh) mountain ranges, rainfall is expected to cover around 60 percent of the land area. Temperatures are forecast to vary between a minimum of 23 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 36 degrees Celsius.

In coastal provinces - Koh Kong, Preah Sihanouk, Kampot, and Kep, including the Bokor mountain range - rainfall is expected to cover about 40 percent of the area. Temperatures will range from 23 to 35 degrees Celsius, while sea waves could reach up to 1.75 metres high.
