Spokesperson: Border Situation Calm, but Anseh Area Under Close Surveillance

Phnom penh: H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Under Secretary of State and Spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defence, stated today that while the overall border situation remains calm-particularly in Preah Vihear and Oddar Meanchey provinces-the Anseh area is under strict monitoring by Cambodian forces.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Aug. 6, 2025, the general situation along the border in Preah Vihear and Oddar Meanchey provinces remained calm. The spokesperson emphasized that the armed forces remain strong and fully vigilant in fulfilling their duties during a regular press briefing held at 11:00 a.m.

The Anseh area is under heightened surveillance to reinforce the spirit and terms of the ceasefire agreement, which Cambodia continues to uphold with full responsibility, noted the spokesperson.

H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata also reaffirmed that Cambodian forces fully support the Royal Government's position to resolve the border conflict through international law and peaceful means. She reiterated that Cambodia aspires to have borders of peace, friendship, cooperation, and development with all neighbouring countries, while remaining unwavering in its commitment to defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
