Phnom penh: The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) will hold an emergency meeting following a request from Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, in response to the Thai military's armed assault on Cambodian territory that began on July 24. The information was confirmed by H.E. Chum Sounry, Secretary of State and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, during a press conference organised here this afternoon by the Royal Government Spokesperson Unit.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the meeting is scheduled to take place at 3:00 p.m. on July 25 (New York time), which corresponds to 2:00 a.m. on July 26 (Phnom Penh time). Cambodia will be represented by its Permanent Representative to the United Nations, who will deliver a carefully prepared intervention highlighting the Kingdom's position and urgent call for international action, the spokesperson noted.
On July 24, Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet sent a letter to H.E. Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the UN, President of the Security Council for July 2025, requesting an emergency meeting to seek international intervention to halt the alleged Thai armed incursion into Cambodian sovereign territory.
