Battambang: Tens of thousands of Cambodian migrant workers have returned today from Thailand through the Daung International Border Gate in Battambang province, with over 600,000 having re-entered the country via this border crossing so far. The repatriation effort is being closely coordinated by Battambang Provincial Governor H.E. Sok Lou and his wife, who have been on-site to welcome the returning workers and personally distribute food and water.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet has also taken a personal interest in the welfare of the returnees. He has deployed hundreds of buses to provide free transportation, ensuring the workers can safely travel to their hometowns.
The returning workers have expressed their gratitude for the warm reception and thanked the Prime Minister for his concern and the provision of free transportation, which has significantly eased their journey home.
Governor Sok Lou has instructed all local authorities, technical officers, and security forces at the border gate to continue their efforts to ensure the repatriation process remains smooth and efficient.
