Phnom penh: Cambodia and France have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening and expanding bilateral cooperation in a wide range of areas, including economy, trade and investment, education, health, energy, culture, and environment. The pledge was made during a courtesy meeting between Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and French Ambassador H.E. Olivier Richard at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh this morning.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, H.E. Ambassador Richard underlined that France and Cambodia have long enjoyed a close partnership, which has steadily expanded over the years. He affirmed his readiness to work closely with Cambodian ministries and institutions to further advance bilateral relations toward greater strength and prosperity.
Samdech Thipadei warmly welcomed the Ambassador and extended congratulations on his appointment as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to Cambodia. He expressed confidence that the Ambassador's diplomatic mission would provide fresh impetus to enhancing the bonds of friendship and cooperation, not only at the government-to-government level but also through people-to-people and private sector exchanges.
On regional issues, Samdech Thipadei conveyed his appreciation to French President H.E. Emmanuel Macron for supporting the ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand. He also briefed the Ambassador on the latest developments at the Cambodia-Thailand border, reaffirming Cambodia's resolve to address the situation peacefully, in line with bilateral agreements, conventions, treaties, and international law.
