Phnom penh: Cambodia's Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, H.E. Dith Tina, today led a humanitarian mission to Banteay Meanchey province, providing aid and expressing solidarity with over 400 families displaced by recent cross-border military aggression from Thai forces.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, these families were forced to evacuate conflict zones near Dangrek Mountain and the Tamone Temple area in Oddar Meanchey province. They are now sheltering at a government-established safety centre following intense hostilities that took place from July 24 to 26.
Accompanied by Banteay Meanchey Governor H.E. Oum Reatrey and local officials, Minister Dith Tina conveyed profound sympathy and delivered emergency supplies. These provisions were donated by Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and the First Lady Lok Chumteav Dr. Pich Chanmony.
"This aggression is not only a blatant violation of Cambodia's territorial sovereignty but a grave threat to the livelihoods and safety of our people," Minister Dith Tina stated. "On behalf of the Royal Government, and as a personal envoy of Samdech Hun Manet and Lok Chumteav Dr. Pich Chanmony, I bring deep concern and support, along with essential aid, to help ease the burden you are enduring."
The Minister emphasised the Royal Government's unwavering commitment to protecting and supporting all affected citizens. He urged the displaced communities to remain calm, cooperate with local authorities, and have faith in the state's efforts to restore security and provide necessary assistance.
"We are here to guarantee your protection and ensure that no one is left behind," he added. "With unity and the full support of the Royal Government, we firmly believe that you will return to normalcy very soon."
The presence of senior officials and the timely delivery of relief items underscore the Royal Government's strong resolve to address the humanitarian consequences of the ongoing border crisis. Local authorities in Banteay Meanchey have also mobilised additional resources to assist the displaced families and ensure their well-being during this critical period.
