Phnom penh: Cambodia's Minister of Information, H.E. Neth Pheaktra, has emphasised the Kingdom's commitment to transparency and accountability on the international stage, drawing a stark contrast with Thailand's perceived avoidance of media scrutiny amidst escalating military tensions along the Cambodia-Thailand border.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, H.E. Minister highlighted that Cambodia's Permanent Representative to the UN openly engaged with journalists at the UN headquarters in New York, providing clear and public responses regarding the volatile situation, after a closed-door meeting of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on July 25.
"In a telling contrast, the Thai Permanent Representative to the United Nations avoided the press and left the meeting without taking any questions," H.E. Neth Pheaktra stated.
"There's no need for further explanation to understand why one would evade the press-it's because they fear confronting their own falsehoods and the consequences of their aggressive actions," he added.
The UNSC session was convened to address the escalating military conflict along the Cambodia-Thailand border, which has witnessed a sharp rise in cross-border violence in recent days.
Cambodia has formally accused Thai forces of repeated incursions and attacks on both military and civilian targets.
