Kunming: High-quality Cambodian products, ranging from silk items, sculptures, and paintings to silverware and jewelry, attracted attention, curiosity, and admiration from the Chinese public during a trade fair held as part of the South and Southeast Asian Media Network (SSAMN) Night in Kunming, Yunnan province.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, nine companies from Siem Reap province participated in the three-day (Sept. 5-7) fair, which featured around 100 booths. The Cambodian exhibitors expressed their delight in participating, seeing it as an opportunity to promote Cambodian products to the world, particularly to the Chinese market.
Mrs. Chap Bophany, representative of Angkor Arts, shared, "This is a great opportunity to showcase Cambodian arts, crafts, and other handmade products. I hope there will be more events like this so that Chinese people can learn more about Cambodian products and culture."
Mr. Chan Sophorn, owner of Sophorn Cambodia Arts, expressed pride in introducing Chinese audiences to the unique craftsmanship and historical significance of Khmer jewelry. "This style of jewelry reflects Cambodia's identity and cultural heritage. I'm honored to share its meaning and origins with the Chinese people," he stated.
The Cambodian exhibitors thanked the organizers for the opportunity and expressed their intention to bring more Cambodian products to next year's event. The nine participating Cambodian companies were: Little Angel Shop, Vichetsal Selapak SM, Watcha Cambodia Handicrafts Incubation Centre, Anon (Cambodia) Co., Ltd., IKTT, Sophorn Cambodia Arts, Angkor Arts, Ahsora Arts, Lamor Nearly Arts, and Khmer Arts.
