CPP, USDP to Promote Bilateral Cooperation and Partnership

Phnom penh: The Cambodian People's Party (CPP) and the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar have reached a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote inter-party cooperation and partnership through the exchange of experiences based on the principles of equality, mutual respect, and mutual trust. The MoU was signed at the January 7 Palace in Phnom Penh this afternoon following the bilateral meeting between CPP President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and visiting H.E. U Khin Yi, Chairman of USDP.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, in the meeting, Samdech Techo Hun Sen underscored the history, milestones, and significant achievements of the CPP from national liberation, nation-building and defense as well as the peacemaking process and development across all sectors until today. Furthermore, both sides briefed each other on the situation of their respective parties and countries, exchanged views on regional and global issues, and agreed to outline directions for future cooperation between the two parties.

The USDP Chairman has been on a working visit to Cambodia from Aug. 27-29, at the invitation of Samdech Techo Hun Sen. During the visit, H.E. U Khin Yi also paid a courtesy call on Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Vice President of the CPP and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia; and visited the Win-Win Memorial to gain insights into the peacebuilding and peacekeeping process and the Win-Win policy of Cambodia.

The visit took place as the two countries commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations, adding a new impetus to the strengthening and expansion of friendship, solidarity, and cooperation between the parties and peoples of both countries as well as enhancing cooperation within the Mekong sub-region and ASEAN. At the invitation of H.E. U Khin Yi, Samdech Techo Hun Sen accepted the invitation to visit Myanmar at a convenient time.
