Phnom penh: Cambodia is deeply grateful to the Chinese government and people for their continued support, underscoring that it has been a key driving force in promoting socio-economic development, infrastructure construction, and improving the livelihoods of the Cambodian people.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the remarks were made by Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, during a bilateral meeting with H.E. Xi Jinping, President of the People's Republic of China, in Tianjin this afternoon, on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Plus Summit 2025.
Samdech Thipadei also expressed appreciation for China's active role in facilitating an early ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand, which he said was crucial for saving lives and restoring the livelihoods of affected communities.
H.E. Xi Jinping warmly welcomed Samdech Thipadei and his high-level delegation, describing his presence as an important opportunity to further strengthen the iron-clad friendship and expand China-Cambodia solidarity following his state visit to Cambodia last April.
On the Cambodia-Thailand border situation, President Xi reaffirmed China's support for the ceasefire, the ASEAN ceasefire observation mechanism led by Malaysia, and the early establishment of the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT). He has also provided humanitarian assistance to help Cambodia recover from recent conflict-related damages and to alleviate the suffering of affected people.
The two leaders further exchanged views on deepening cooperation in key areas, including politics, diplomacy, trade, infrastructure, and other strategic sectors, with the shared goal of strengthening Cambodia's self-reliant development capacity and safeguarding national sovereignty.
